BackupMemories

Launching mid-November 2026

Back up your Snapchat Memories, with the right dates and places

Snapchat lets you download your Memories, but the export is a mess: wrong dates, no locations, captions split off into separate files, long videos chopped into pieces. BackupMemories fixes all of that and gets your photos and videos into Google Photos, your iPhone, Google Drive or Dropbox. Nothing to install, and it works on your phone.

Why now

Since September 2025, Snapchat includes 5GB of free Memories storage, with paid plans for more. From January 2027, if you go over the free storage, Memories older than a year (beyond your oldest 5GB) are archived: you'll still see thumbnails, but you'll need a storage plan or a download to open them. Snapchat says Memories aren't deleted, but a download you control is the safest backup.

How it will work

  1. Request your export from Snapchat. It's free and usually arrives within 1 to 2 days (larger libraries can take up to a week).
  2. Add it to BackupMemories. Upload the files Snapchat sends you exactly as they arrive, with no unzipping or sorting. Works on your phone or computer, and if your connection drops, the upload picks up where it left off.
  3. Get your photos and videos back, fixed. Correct dates and times, locations restored, captions and stickers merged back on, split videos joined, all neatly sorted by year and month.

Start now: request your export

  1. Go to accounts.snapchat.com and sign in.
  2. Open My Data.
  3. Turn on Export your Memories and Export JSON files, then submit.
  4. Snapchat emails you when it's ready. Keep that email; the download links expire.

Note: "My Eyes Only" isn't included in Snapchat's export. Save those manually from the app.
